<br />MINUTES <br />REDWOOD CITY PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />November 13,1974 <br /> <br />~ ~. ~. ~ '51 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular business meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission was called <br />to order by Chairperson Weintraub at 7:35 p.m. in Meeting Room Number 1 at <br />the Community Activities Building located at 1400 Roosevelt Avenue. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Commissioners Knecht, Pound, Rollins, Schenck, Schlesinger, <br />Weintraub, Wilson <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Staff Present: <br /> <br />Director Max Weeks, Park Superintendent Pasco Balzarini, <br />Recreation Superintendent Bill Paulson, Administrative <br />Assistant Tom Ferrando, Staff Secretary Cheryl Pellicano <br /> <br />Audience Present: <br /> <br />Warren Mitchell - Water Department <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Commissioner Rollins moved to accept the Minutes of the October 9, <br />1974 regular business meeting as mailed with the following addition <br />to page 2, Agenda Item 1 (For Consideration - Co-Sponsorship Policy) <br />to be inserted after "...an overabundance of clubs were to apply for <br />co-sponsorship." <br /> <br />Addition: <br /> <br />Commissioner Sche.ndk also raised the question with regard to <br />interpretation as to whether or not organized team sports <br />activities conducted by volunteer groups were, in fact, con- <br />sidered recreation programs. Mr. Weeks stated that the <br />Commission may wish to consider organized team sports with <br />respect to their qualification as recreation programs and that <br />the demand for facilities may indeed force limitations as to <br />the City's ability to accommodate these groups. <br /> <br />The motion was seconded by Commisšion Schenck. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />0 <br /> <br />Abstain: <br /> <br />1 - Commissioner Pound <br /> <br />The motion carried by voice vote. <br /> <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />Chairperson Weintraub highly recommended the article regarding recreation for <br />the handicapped which appeared in the November issue of the California Parks <br />and Recreation magazine. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Item 1. Letter from Business & Professional Women's Club <br /> <br />--- y <br /> <br />Chairperson Weintraub read the letter which requested that the Commission con- <br />. sider naming a park in Redwood City in honor of the late Elouise Campbell for <br /> <br />
