It was pointed out that
the Committee divided into several subcommittees and each one of the staff
members handled one or two of the various subcommittees and worked with them
on their various assignments. The subcommittee findings were then reported
to the central committee where the findings were analyzed and discussed and
formulated eventual1 y into the report.

Mr. Weeks stated that in the Introduction, the Committee attempted to point
out some of the background to the Senior's interest'in a Center quoting some
of the findings made in the Action Plan of San Mateo County. The Committee
has also attempted to point out the various club organizations contained in
the City and how they are operating. The objectives of the study were also
indicated as they were understood by the Committee. Some background was also

,
glven.

A demographic analysis of the Redwood City Seniors was included in the report.
The 1970 census, together with the information obtained from the County study,
was used to report the numbers and distribution of seniors. The distribution
of senior population (page 8 in the report) is keyed in with Plate I found
in the Appendix. It attempts to designate the census track areas as determined
in the census and also attempts to explain the distribution in the summary
statement of the age groups throughout the City. Mr. Weeks explained that the

att~t in tms section ~s to cry to id~tify ~ere the s~iors ~e loĊ“too
