After <br />the words IICanyon Road," add: I1Park Preliminary Plan.lI <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM 1 - Review of Proposed After-School Recreation Program <br /> <br />Recreation Superintendent Paulson 'briefly reviewed the report as mailed to <br />the Commission and Assistant Superintendent Spink of the Redwood City <br />Elementary School District. Basically, the effect of the 63% budget <br />reduction will affect leadership, primarily. Playground supervision will <br />no longer be provided at the elementary schools for two hours daily. The <br />general concept of the projected program will be.a city-wide sports program <br />with sports leaders assigned to each junior high school area as interest <br />dictates. The sports leaders will be responsible for teaching basic sports <br />fundamentals to team participants. They will not be responsible for general <br />schoolground supervision or drop-in programs as in the past. <br /> <br />The program is designed to serve all school-aged children who reside within <br />the Redwood City Elementary. School Di'strict boundary, regardless of individ- <br />ual school affiliation. It is anticipated that recreation league practices <br />and games would be conducted on those facilities most centrally located to <br />area participants.
