<br />~ <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />Minutes of Wednesday, January 22, 1992 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Chairperson Nordness, <br />Commissioners Howard, Mortensen, <br />Slusser, Swope and Truscelli <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Mike Gibbons, Senior Affairs <br />Commissioner Vince Truscelli <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Director Peter Griffiths and <br />Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order at. 7:30pm by Chairperson Ed Nordness in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the October meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />There .was no correspondence. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - Union Cemetery Update <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope said that because the City Council approved $15,000 for <br />the Cultural Resources Plan for Union Cemetery, a Request for Proposal (RFP) <br />was sent out to several firms in the area. The two firms that responded to <br />the RFP were Peak & Associates and Woodward & Clyde. Each of the firms were <br />interviewed by Commissioner Swope and Director Griffiths in early December <br />and Peak & Associates were selected. Commissioner Swope said that Woodard & <br />Clyde indicated they would only be able to complete a portion of the work <br />that ;s needed at the Cemetery for the funds allocated but Peak & Associates <br />would be able to complete everything that is required within the budgeted <br />amount. Commissioner Swope said she spoke with Thad VanBueren, who is now <br />with CalTrans, and he indicated that Peak & Associates were. a responsible <br />firm anp qualified to perform the work at Union Cemetery. He also said he <br />would be available to consult on this project. <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope said that Woodward & Clyde recommended a laser survey <br />be done at the Cemetery in order to obtain an accurate map of the site and <br />Brian-Kangas-Faulk have agreed to do an aerial and laser survey for <br />$5,000.00. Peak & Associates said that if a laser survey was done that it <br />would save their firm considerable time and they would be able to perform the <br />rest of the necessary work for $10,000.00. <br /> <br />Director Griffiths mentioned that in order for the aerial and laser survey to <br />be as accurate as possible, a clean-up of Union Cemetery ;s necessary to <br /> <br />
