He
spoke about the recent theft of flowering quince from the cemetery and that
the perpetrators were cited and ticketed by the Police. The staff of M&M
Nursery contacted the police when they saw the people in the cemetery and
said this same group of people have returned to the cemetery over the past
several years to cut the quince and sell it for a profit during ChIDese New
Year. The Commissioners felt that the perpetrators should have to make
restitution for the theft and perhaps purchase flowering quince plants and
plant them in the cemetery, and asked if a letter could be sent to the judge
with the Commission's recommendations. Commissioner Slusser said if the
court agrees with our recommendations, then perhaps publicity of the theft
and the consequences of this act of vandalism could be given to the.
newspapers to show the public what can happen.
