<br />r <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />." <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />i.. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />'" <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 21, 1995 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Swope, Commissioners <br />Davis, Hughes, Nordness, and Slusser <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />Commissioners Morton and Truscelli <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: None <br /> <br />S T A FF PRE S EN T: Director Peter G riffi ths and Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Susan Swope at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The September minutes were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />-A memo was received from Supervisor Bill Wooten giving the <br />Commissioners an update on the school field maintenance issue involving <br />Redwood City Elementary School District and A YSO. Director Griffiths <br />announced there will be a public meeting on Tuesday, December 5, 1995 at <br />7:30pm in the Library Community Room. Representatives from Little <br />League, AYSO, and the School District have been invited to attend and <br />discuss field usage throughout the School system. <br /> <br />Director Griffiths said A YSO has agreed to pay for the renovation of two fields <br />at Kennedy Middle School and the City will be providing $4,000 in <br />landscaping services towards this project. If A YSO wants to upgrade <br />Kennedy's field irrigation system, the cost would be an additional $3,700. The <br />City will also be renovating the fields at Hoover and Roosevelt Schools. <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope asked if the School District has made a commitment to <br />water the renovated school fields year round. Director Griffiths stated we are <br />trying to encourage the schools do provide this service but this is a budgetary <br />issue for the School District. <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis compared the turf condition of Red Morton Park and <br />Hoover Park and asked why the fields at Red Morton were in better shape. <br />Director Griffiths stated the field usage at Hoover Park is higher than at Red <br />Morton and the constant use of Hoover does not allow the field to <br /> <br />
