PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28, 1996 CO MMI S S lONERS PRESENT: Chairpe rso n T ruscelli, Co mmissio ne rs Davis, Hughes, Morton, Nordness, and Slusser COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Swope GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli STAFF PRE SENT: Superintend en t Marc Selezn ow I Manager Mike Gib bo ns The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairperson Pauline Truscelli at 7:32pm in Room 2 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Hughes mentioned there is a low priority of the skateboard park due to the fact that each City participating must contribute $20,000.00 towards the project. The July minutes were approved as mailed. Commissioner Hughes requested that either she or Commissioner Slusser be on the committee regarding a teen center area at the Sandpiper Community Center. Commissioner Slusser noted the MOPS Committee began looking at the site plan last year and individual Commissioners were invited to attend. Commissioner Davis felt the playing field for the project became a baseball field by default and is disappointed with the result because there are a shortage of soccer fields in the community. Commissioner Slusser felt it should be developed primarily as a soccer field and would not be large enough for use by adult players as a softball field. M/S Hughes/Morton: To recommend to the City Council to have one of the Park and Recreation Commissioners be appointed to serve on the Teen Center Committee. Motion passed. CORRESPONDENCE Superintendent Seleznow gave the Commissioners copies of City Council reports concerning: the advertisement for bids for the Myrtle Street par king lot project; the final acceptance of the Shannon Park Project; and the approval of the architectural services for the Redwood Shores Fire Sta non and
