<br /> <br />, ' ~ <br />t' <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 1997 <br /> <br />CO MMI 88 I 0 NER8 PRE 8 ENT: Chairp ergo n T ruscelli 1 Co mmissi on er s <br />Davis, Hughes, Morton, Nordness, and <br />Slusser <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Swope <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: See Sign-In List for listing <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Peter Griffiths¡ Superintendent Gary Hover, <br />Public Works Superintendent Gordon MannI Secretary <br />Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Pauline Truscelli at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the <br />Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, <br />California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the April meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />There was no correspondence. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Dave Rogers of 1119 Oliver Street stated he came before the Commission 1.5 <br />years ago and spoke on the issue of dogs and alcohol in City parks. He said he <br />reported that people were violating the ordinances prohibiting dogs and <br />alcohol in the parks and asked the Commission to take some action. He later <br />received a letter from the Police Chief who indicated that notices would be <br />sent to residents in their water bills reminding them of the ordinances. Mr. <br />Rogers said the letter also stated that police officers would be instructed to <br />handle ordinance violators with a warning and then a citation. Mr. Rogers <br />said this is a bigger issue now and that he has never seen a police officer in <br />the parks. He said that people constantly bring their dogs to the parks and <br />drink alcohol in the parks and nothing is being done to control this. He asked <br />the Commission to restore the enforcement of the ordinances immediately <br />and said he was disappointed that the City and this department are doing <br />nothing about this matter. <br /> <br />
