The minutes of the March 9 <br />meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - COMMISSION/COUNCIL PARK TOUR <br /> <br />The annual Commission/Council Park Tour was set for Saturday, April <br />30,1988, to begin at 8:30 a.m., Community Activities Building, Red <br />Morton Community Park (L'ittle League fields, 4gers), Stu1saft Park <br />and Redwood Shores, respectively, will be visited. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT ON REQUEST FOR ALCOHOL PERMIT PROCESS <br /> <br />The Alcohol Permit Committee appointed last meeting in response to R. <br />Martinez' request, met March 29. The Commission discussed the <br />committee recommendations and evaluations for providing for a permit <br />process to consume alcohol in the parks. Commissioner Mortensen said <br />he favored the idea of a contracted concessionaire in Red Morton Park <br />and Commissioner Weiss concurred. Commissioner Nordness said he was <br />against alcohol consumption in the parks in any form. Director <br />Griffiths mentioned the Police Department has set up TAPS (tactical <br />action plans) for the parks which will insure the presence of a <br />regular beat cop checking the parks for the duration of the exercise. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />MIS Anderson/No~ness to deny the specific request of <br />R. Martinez, Senors Softball League, and not to allow a <br />permit system of any sort. <br /> <br />Motion unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Commissioner Howard requested discussion on the motion. Director <br />Griffiths informed the Commission that interviews for the Park Ranger <br />position will be Wednesday, April 20. He also said if the ordinance <br />were to be changed, the existing signs and new signs would again have <br />to be changed which is very costly. I <br /> <br /> <br />.. <br />~'" <br />
