The last sentence should state "alcohol in the parks ordinance". The
minutes were approved as corrected.

CORRESPONDENCE

The following correspondence was received:
-A newsletter from the Santa Clara County Audibon Society

The following items were taken out of order:

ITEM 5 - RELOCATION OF WINDMILL AT GARFIELD SCHOOL

Chairperson Davis explained it was brought to the Strategic Planning Committee
that a historic windmill is currently located at Garfield School. Due to the
planned construction on the playing fields at Garfield School, the windmill will be
destroyed. Jean Cloud from the Historic Resources Advisory Committee (H RAC)
explained the history of the windmill and suggested that the windmill be relocated
to a City park for preservation and educational purposes. Chairperson Davis,
Commissioner Joseph and Mrs. Cloud recently visited the site to examine the"
windmill. Chairperson Davis gave a brief report on the condition of the windmill
and felt it needs to be examined by a professional to see if it could be
resurrected and moved to a public site.

Mrs. Cloud said the HRAC is very interested in preserving the windmill and would
like to see it re-Iocated in a place of prominence. Redwood City School
Superintendent Ron Crates has given his approval to have the windmill relocated
to another site. Chairperson Davis stated that he will check with Nick Watry to
see if he could examine the windmill for structural integrity. There was
discussion about where the windmill could be relocated to. Chairperson Davis
suggested that this might be a good community project where service groups,
scouts troops and others could manage the project.
