<br />1 <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28, 2000 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Davis, Commissioners Joseph, <br />LaBerge, Morton, Slusser, and Truscelli <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Swope <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli, Public Works Superintendent Gordon <br />Mann <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Don Davis at 7:30pm in Room 5 at the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The following corrections were made to the May minutes: <br /> <br />-Under Item 1, Commissioner LaBerge (not Chairperson Davis) attended the <br />HRAC meeting with Commissioner Joseph. <br />-Under Item 4, Commissioner Swope (not Chairperson Davis) is developing <br />forms and Superintendent Hover for the booth at the 4th of July Festival. <br /> <br />The May minutes were approved as corrected. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />The Commissioners received a memo from Director Griffiths with the new <br />"Interim Park Use Policy" for Stafford Park effective immediately. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - REDWOOD SHORES TREE UPDATE <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover stated that he and Chairperson Davis met with Public <br />Works Superintendent Gordon Mann to discuss the issues surrounding the <br />psyllid infestation of eucalyptus trees in Redwood Shores and the <br />involvement of the Commission. He noted that Public Works Director Peter <br />Ingram has also been brought current on the situation. <br /> <br />Public Works Superintendent Gordon Mann spoke about a report from UC <br />Berkeley entomologists concerning recent testing of a predator wasp to help <br />eliminate the psyllid. Superintendent Mann handed out a Tree Preservation <br />Ordinance outline and discussed existing ordinances, existing <br />management/oversight, lessons learned/next steps; and case study of the <br />
