<br />1 - -- ~ <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDA Y, MAY 23, 2001 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Joseph, Commissioners Swope, <br />Truscelli and Walsh <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Davis, La Berge, and Morton <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Walter Moore, Pat Webb, Vince Truscelli, and Eighteen <br />Neighbors of Red Morton Park <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendent Gary Hover, <br />Superintendent Chris Beth, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Jeri Joseph at 7:35pm in Room 1 at the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br /> <br />Two corrections were made to the April minutes: <br />1,) Under Item 6, Strategic Plan, the second sentence should read: "The <br />committee would like to send "teams" out to group meetings to explain <br />what Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services does <br />currently and get feedback on what facilities, programs, and services the <br />public wants provided, <br />2.) Under Item 7, Create Civic Engagement, the last sentence should read: <br />"Chairperson Joseph suggested the Commissioners bring their ideas <br />about ways to reach out to families in the community to the May <br />meeting ," <br /> <br />The minutes were approved as corrected, <br /> <br />CORRESPON DENCE <br /> <br />-A newsletter from the Audibon Society of Santa Clara Valley was received. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - PROGRESS REPORT ON DOWNTOWN AREA PLAN <br /> <br />Walter Moore of the Downtown Area Task Force gave the history of the Task <br />Force and explained that the purpose of the group is to formulate a plan for <br />the downtown area and incorporate it into the City's General Plan <br />amendment. Mr, Moore stated the Commission will receive the same <br />presentation this evening that the City Council received a few weeks ago. Mr. <br />Moore said he would like comments from the City's board and commission <br />members regarding the content of this presentation and encouraged the <br /> <br />1;, <br /> <br />~,'\ <br /> <br />- <br />
