<br />,. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2001 <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Joseph, Commissioners Davis, <br />Morton, Swope, Truscelli, and Walsh <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner La Berge <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Superintendent Chris Beth, <br />Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Jeri Joseph at 5:22pm at Stafford Park, Hopkins Avenue <br />and King Street, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />A correction was made to the July minutes on Page 4 under "4th of July <br />Float". The second sentence should read that $338.00 was collected for the <br />, windmill project. The June minutes were approved as corrected. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />-An invitation was received to attend a Commission Training Workshop on <br />September 29 at the Milpitas Community Center sponsored by CAPRCBM; <br />cost is $40.00 per person. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - CREATING CIVIC ENGAGEMENT (CCE) <br /> <br />-Engaging the Community <br />Chairperson Jeri Joseph spoke about the decision to have this evening's <br />meeting at Stafford Park and asked for suggestions on locations to hold <br />future meetings in order to meet the community. She thanked staff for <br />organizing the set-up of the meeting at Stafford Park. Commissioner Davis <br />suggested that if the Commission meeting is moved to another location to <br />increase assess to the community, that the local neighborhood associations <br />be contacted to promote attendance. <br /> <br />-Park and Recreation Community Contest <br />Chairperson Joseph discussed selecting a date for the proposed "Pet Parade" <br />and Saturday, March 30, 2002 was selected as the date because it did not <br />conflict with youth sports dates. The location will be Red Morton Park and <br />the time will be determined. <br />
