COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Joseph, Commissioners Davis, Morton, Swope, Truscelli, and Walsh COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner La Berge GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Superintendent Chris Beth, Secretary Denise Monroe The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairperson Jeri Joseph at 5:22pm at Stafford Park, Hopkins Avenue and King Street, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A correction was made to the July minutes on Page 4 under "4th of July Float". The second sentence should read that $338.00 was collected for the , windmill project. The June minutes were approved as corrected. CORRESPONDENCE -An invitation was received to attend a Commission Training Workshop on September 29 at the Milpitas Community Center sponsored by CAPRCBM; cost is $40.00 per person. ITEM 1 - CREATING CIVIC ENGAGEMENT (CCE) -Engaging the Community Chairperson Jeri Joseph spoke about the decision to have this evening's meeting at Stafford Park and asked for suggestions on locations to hold future meetings in order to meet the community. She thanked staff for organizing the set-up of the meeting at Stafford Park. Commissioner Davis suggested that if the Commission meeting is moved to another location to increase assess to the community, that the local neighborhood associations be contacted to promote attendance. -Park and Recreation Community Contest Chairperson Joseph discussed selecting a date for the proposed "Pet Parade" and Saturday, March 30, 2002 was selected as the date because it did not conflict with youth sports dates. The location will be Red Morton Park and the time will be determined.
