Chief Bolanos asked the Commission to consider
the impacts of enforcing this policy and introduced Sgt. Steve Switzer who
supervises the swing shift patrol officers.

Sgt. Switzer spoke about the situations his officers encounter at Stafford
Park due to this policy and felt it is a "Iose..lose" situation for both the park
patrons and the officers. He said he did not recall receiving any calls
regarding portable BBQs for any other Redwood City park. He felt that if
dumping coals was an issue at Stafford Park, then the Commission should
change the rules to reflect this change. Sgt. Switzer said the Police
Department receives several calls per day from Stafford Park neighbors on
the weekends during the summer months due to BBQ issues.

Elizabeth Travers of 27 Lowell Street showed the Commissioners pictures she
took of Stafford, Mezes and Garrett Parks on the same day. She said that

. ,
