<br />. <br /> <br />~:~., <br />r . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />\ <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2004 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Yapp, Commissioners Joseph, <br />Morton, Slusser, Swope, Truscelli and White <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Seventeen guests present <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendents Gary Hover <br />and Chris Beth, Managers Mike Gibbons and Valerie Matonis, Secretary <br />Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Bob Yapp at 7:30pm in Room 1 of the Community <br />Activities. Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MIN UTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the August meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />CORRESPON DENCE <br /> <br />There was no correspondence. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - PRESENTATION FROM PARK MANAGER MIKE GIBBONS <br /> <br />Park Manager Mike Gibbons spoke about the Parks Division and its areas of <br />responsibility. The Parks Division has two managers and he introduced Park <br />Manager Valerie Matonis to the Commission. He stated that the division is <br />set up in teams in order to maintain the City's parks and medians. He <br />explained what he likes best about his job is our park grand openings, <br />synthetic fields and park renovations done by our staff. Manager Gibbons is <br />also the department representative on the Pride and Beautification <br />Committee and mentioned the upcoming City-wide Clean-Up on October 2. <br />Commissioner Joseph thanked Manager Gibbons for his work on the Adopt-A- <br />Park Program and Manager Valerie Matonis for her work on the Shores dog <br />park. <br /> <br />Human Services Manager Teri Chin will make a presentation at the October <br />Commission me,eting. <br /> <br />
