<br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF SATURDAY, AUGUST 13, 2005 <br /> <br />Prior to calling the meeting to order, Director Centeno and Superintendent <br />Hover along with Commissioners Slusser, Swope and Truscelli met at the <br />Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City. <br />Beginning at 10:00 am, staff provided an overview of the proposed activities <br />for the day and the two community outcomes, which the park tour was <br />designed to highlight - Safety and Security and Community Image and <br />. Sense of- Place. Those present then carpooled to Andrew Spinas Park, the <br />first stop on the proposed tour. <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Commissioner Joseph called the special Park Tour meeting of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission to order at 11: 07 am at Andrew Spinas Park, 2nd and <br />Bay Road, Redwood City. . <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Commissioners Joseph, Slusser, Swope, and <br />Truscelli <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Chairperson Yapp, Vice Chairperson Morton <br />and Commissioner White <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Vincent Truscelli <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendents Gary Hover <br />and Chris Beth <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - PARK TOUR <br /> <br />AREA 1 - SPINAS PARK <br />Superintendent Hover indicated that the park had been renovated <br />approximately 11/2 years ago, and that it has been hit fairly severely by <br />graffiti. Staff is working with the Police Department to explore new <br />ideas for deterring graffiti and other vandalism in the parks. This park <br />is also similar to Fleishman, where a design for renovation is being <br />developed. <br /> <br />AREA 2 - HOOVER PARK AND POOL <br />Superintendent Hover noted that Hoover was the first artificial turf <br />installation in the City. It is getting a large amount of use but it is <br />holding up well. Commissioners asked what kind of aesthetic changes <br />could be made to the Hoover Pool deck, as it appeared unattractive. <br /> <br /> <br />. Y'::" . <br />- ", "'-'. <br /> <br /> <br />.
