<br />I ' <br /> <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES O,F WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2005 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Vice Chairperson Morton, Commissioners <br />Joseph, Slusser, Swope, and White <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Chairperson Yapp, Commissioner Truscelli <br /> <br />. , <br />, , <br /> <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Sharon McNamee, Gary Bonte from Community <br />Development Department, Planning Division <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendents Gary Hover <br />and Chris Beth, Administrative Assistant Denise Monroe <br /> <br />Vice Chairperson Morton called the regular meeting of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission to order at 7:35pm in Room 4 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 ,Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the July 27 meeting were approved as mailed. The minutes <br />of the August 13 Park Tour were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />There was no correspondence. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Elizabeth Travers of 27 Lowell Street, said she felt the comments she made <br />in her letter, which was read at the July meeting, should have been included <br />in the July minutes. She also spoke about the need to have staff monitor <br />park permits; the need to limit groups to 25 people or less at Stafford Park; <br />garbage overflow at the park attracting skunks and rats; felt park signs are <br />not getting point across to park users; did not agree with suggestion that <br />people could bring BBQs in parks with a permit; that the Stafford Park <br />Neighborhood Resolution Committee should be consulted before any rules <br />were changed at Stafford Park. Commissioner Slusser asked staff if the <br />garbage cans were the appropriate size in proportion to the garbage <br />generated. Vice Chairperson Morton thanked Mrs. Travers for her input on <br />the proposed ordinance changes and for her comments on the operational <br />issues at Stafford. He requested staff to respond to the operational issues in <br />writing to Mrs. Travers with a copy to the Commissioners. <br /> <br />I11III8 <br />
