<br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JULY 26, 2006 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Slusser, Commissioners <br />Sargent, White, Wright <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Joseph, Swope and Truscelli <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: None <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Administrative Assistant <br />Denise Monroe <br /> <br />Chairperson Bob Slusser called the regular meeting of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission to order at 7:35pm in Room 1 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the June meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />The approval of the May 2006 minutes was tabled until the August meeting. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser announced he had received an unsigned letter at his <br />home regarding the fact that two Redwood City parks have been included on <br />a list of potential sites for a new school in Redwood Shores. This list was <br />developed by the School Site Committee of the Belmont-Redwood Shores <br />School District. Chairperson Slusser said the next meeting of the School Site <br />Committee is July 27 and he is planning on attending the meeting. Director <br />Centeno explained the City has not been approached by the School District <br />regarding either site and is going to remain neutral while the Committee <br />continues with its public process. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL ON PARK AND OPEN <br />SPACE ELEMENT <br /> <br />Director Centeno reported the Planning Commission accepted all of the <br />Commission's recommendations to the draft Open Space Element. The <br />Commissioners received a copy of Commissioner Swope's comments on the <br />revised Parks and Open Space Element and Director Centeno requested that <br />the Commission approve forwarding those comments to the Planning <br />Commission. She asked the Commissioners to forward any additional <br />comments on this latest draft to Denise Monroe by Friday, July 28. <br />
