PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2007 <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Vice Chairperson White, Commissioners <br />Joseph-Hover, Sargent, Truscelli and Wright <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Chairperson Slusser, Commissioner Swope <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendent Gary Hover, <br />Superintendent Chris Beth, Administrative Assistant Denise Monroe <br />Vice Chairperson Shawn White called the regular meeting of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission to order at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The minutes of the January meeting were approved as mailed. <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br />A newsletter was received from the California Association of Park and <br />Recreation Commissioners and Board Members. <br />ITEM 1 -ACTION ON PROPOSAL FOR PLACEMENT OF FOUNTAIN <br />DONATED TO THE CITY BY THE UCCELLI FAMILY IN THE RED <br />MORTON PARK ROSE GARDEN <br />Superintendent Hover discussed the fountain donated by the Uccelli Family <br />which is constructed of molded stone and is 8' in diameter and 6' high. He <br />noted that the fountain has been assembled and is currently located at the <br />Municipal Services Center. He stated that staff looked at several parks where <br />the fountain could be located and decided that the Rose Garden at Red <br />Morton Park was the best location. The Commissioners discussed the <br />fountain and possible locations for its installation. Several of the <br />Commissioners expressed a desire to see the fountain in person before <br />making a decision. <br />M/S Truscelli/Sargent: To table this item until the March meeting so <br />Commissioners will have an opportunity to visit the fountain. <br />Motion passed. <br />Commissioner Joseph-Hover wanted to see a list of the parks that staff <br />eliminated as possible sites for the fountain and Superintendent Hover stated <br />he will email the information to the Commissioners. <br />
