<br />ATTY/RESO.0043/HRAC RESO 1-330 GRAND <br />REV: 06-07-18 JS <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 18-01 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORICAL RESOURCES ADVISORY <br />COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ADOPTING THE <br />HISTORIAN’S REPORT FINDING THAT THE EXISTING HOME AT <br />330 GRAND STREET IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR LISTING ON THE <br />CALIFORNIA REGISTER OF HISTORIC RESOURCES OR AS AN <br />INDIVIDUAL LOCAL HISTORIC LANDMARK BUT THAT THE <br />EXISTING PROPERTY COULD QUALIFY AS A CONTRIBUTOR TO A <br />POTENTIAL MT. CARMEL HISTORIC DISTRICT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant, Daniel Biermann, on behalf of David Welch, filed an <br />application for an Architectural Permit to demolish of an existing home built in 1930 and <br />to construct a new two-story home located at 330 Grand Street, Redwood City, <br />California; and <br />WHEREAS, staff requested a Historian’s Report to determine whether the <br />existing building at 330 Grand Street constructed in 1930 is eligible for listing on the <br />local, state or national historic registers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant hired Richard Brandi, a qualified Architectural <br />Historian, to analyze the existing home as a potential historic resource at 330 Grand <br />Street; and <br />WHEREAS, the historian’s report dated March 8, 2018 stated that the home <br />possessed historic significance; and <br />WHEREAS, this historian’s report as revised March 19, 2018, and again revised <br />May 10, 2018, found that the existing home at 330 Grand Street is not eligible as an <br />individual historic landmark under the criteria of the California Register of Historical <br />Resources (CRHR) or the Chapter 40 of the Redwood City Municipal Code (the Historic <br />Preservation Ordinance), but that it could qualify as a contributor to a potential Mt. <br />Carmel Historic District; and <br />WHEREAS, the Historic Resources Advisory Committee (HRAC) of the City of <br />Redwood City is empowered by the Historic Preservation Ordinance to review <br />applications that involve alterations or demolitions of historic landmarks or structures <br />within a historic district. While the existing home at 330 Grand Street has not been <br />designated as a historic landmark and is not within an historic district, in light of <br />conflicting information in the record, review by the HRAC is appropriate; and <br />WHEREAS, on May 11, 2018, a public hearing notice was published in The San <br />Mateo City Daily Journal and mailed to interested parties and all property owners within <br />300 feet of the Property; and
