Learn why this is important
Good afternoon-
I am writing with a concern for our neighborhood Stafford park and issues withe food
truck that has set up business. I was born and raised in RC and Stafford was always
a small neighborhood park, which I now live across from.
For the months now and counting a food truck has set up on Hopkins from around 11-
7:30 at night running their business at the park. This is not the ice-cream truck that
stops for 10 minutes and then moves on, they are set up all day using the park and
benches to support their business
There are several concerns I have ;
1. This is a neighborhood not a commercial corridor - I would assume you would need
a permit to run a business at a park in Redwood City?
2. the truck is as big as an medium sized RV and creates site line issues for drivers
especially trying to pull out from King or Lowell onto Hopkins - I personally have had
site line issue and have seen a few accidents narrowly avoided and drivers cannot
see kids walking across the street until the last-minute
3. They are running a generator that is placed on the street and a neon OPEN sign
4. If one can do it next thing we know we could have 10-12-14 food trucks park
around the park with no parking for the neighborhood to actually enjoy the park, not to
mention the noise and garbage that will accumulate
5. This is already an issue when there is music in the park, I cannot listen to the
music due to the the trucks and generators make it impossible to hear or see into the
park (film attached)
Concerned Neighbor
Fergal O'Boyle
