ORDINANCE REGULATZNG THE PURCHASE OF MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES FOR THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AND FOR THE DOING OF ANY PUBLIC WORK; ESTABLISHING A PROCEDURE FOR THE PURCHASE OF MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES; ESTABLISHING A COMPETITIVE BIDDING PROCEDURE; AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 797 THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN A� FOLLOWS: SECTION l. Biddinct Required. (a) All materials, equipment, and supplies costing more than Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) shall be purchased in the open market on the basis of competitive bidding in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance. (b) Any pub lic work or improvement costing more than Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) shall be contracted for in accordance with Section 67 of the Redwood City Charter unless such work or improvement is performed by a department authorized to execute such work or improvement directly as provided in Section 67 or unless the work is performed as provided in Section 68 of the Charter. The procedure pertaining to the purchase of materials, equipment and supplies having an estimated cost in excess of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) shall be followed in the award of contracts for public works and improvement s wherever appli- cable . �ECTION 2. 5pecif ications. Before any contract for the purchase of any materials, equipment or supplies is advertised for bid, the Department Head for whom such materials, equipment or supplies are being purchased shall submit specifications therefor to the City Manager for approval. Such specifications shall include the type, quality, quantity and, whenever practi- cable, the date, place and method of delivery of the materials, equipment or supplies to be purchased. i�,� �� �
