DES : sh : 2/4/77 <br /> R E S O L U T I O N N O . 7761 <br /> RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING WATER CONSERVATION POLICY <br /> AND GUIDELINES <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> FEB 7 1977 <br /> WHEREAS , a City ' s water supply is an important foundation <br /> for jobs , health , housing , recreation , and fire safety ; and <br /> WHEREAS , this City , together with other San Francisco Bay <br /> Area water users, receives its domestic water pursuant to contract <br /> with the City and County of San Francisco , San Francisco Water <br /> Department ; and <br /> WHEREAS , the San Francisco Water Department and the afore- <br /> mentioned Bay Area Water Agencies have , through recent years , <br /> demonstrated a progressive and active program to insure full and <br /> safe water supplies to all communities served thereby ; and <br /> WHEREAS , as water is the keystone of one ' s living environment <br /> and life- style , full support should be given not only to programs <br /> for water development , but also for programs to prevent water <br /> waste and misuse ; and <br /> WHEREAS , the demand for water and the amount of water <br /> available has been severely affected by continuing lack of average <br /> seasonal rainfall in the Hetch-Hetchy watershed , which supplies <br /> our area ; and <br /> WHEREAS , this City and all other customers of the San <br /> Francisco Water Department have been notified of the requirement <br /> to take urgent and immediate steps to effect an overall 10 per cent <br /> reduction in water consumption during the period of drought ; <br /> NOW , THEREFORE ; <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY , <br /> AS FOLLOWS : <br /> 1 . This Council hereby establishes a policy of encouraging <br /> public awareness and support for water conservation throughout the <br /> 7761 <br />
