07/09/01 <br /> <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2211 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY APPROVING AND <br />ADOPTING THE FIFTH AMENDMENT TO THE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN <br />FOR REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT NO. 2 <br /> <br /> Whereas, the Council of Redwood City (the "Council") adopted the <br />Redevelopment Plan for Redevelopment Project No. 2 (the "Project Area") on August 19, <br />1982 by Ordinance No. 1862 and has amended the Redevelopment Plan as follows: by <br />Ordinance No. 1911 approved on June 20, 1985; by Ordinance No. 2007 approved on <br />January 18, 1990; by Ordinance No. 2085 approved on December 19, 1994 (as amended, <br />the "Redevelopment Plan"). <br /> <br /> Whereas, pursuant to the Community Redevelopment Law of the State of <br />California (the "Redevelopment Law"), the Redwood City Redevelopment Agency (the <br />"Agency") has recommended an amendment to the Redevelopment Plan that would <br />extend the Agency's deadline for commencement of eminent domain proceedings by six <br />years; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, the Agency has prepared and submitted to the Council for review and <br />adoption a proposed Fifth Amendment to the Redevelopment Plan for the Redevelopmem <br />Project No. 2 (the "Fifth Amendment"), a copy of which is on file with the City Clerk; <br />and <br /> <br /> Whereas, the Agency has made studies of the impact of the proposed Fifth <br />Amendment and has determined that the proposed amendment will promote the proper <br />redevelopment of the Project Area in accordance with the goals, objectives, and policies <br />of the City of Redwood City's General Plan, the Redevelopment Plan, and the <br />Redevelopment Law; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, the Agency has prepared and submitted, and the Council has reviewed <br />and considered, a written report on the proposed amendment (the "Report to City <br />Council") pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 33457.1, a copy of which is on file <br />with the City Clerk; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, the purpose of the Fifth Amendment is to extend the deadline for <br />commencement of eminent domain proceedings by the Agency by six years. This <br />amendment will not change the uses permitted within the Project Area; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, the Planning Commission, which is the duly designated and acting <br />official planning body of the City of Redwood City, has submitted to the Council its <br />report and recommendation dated May 1, 2001, recommending approval and adoption of <br />the Fifth Amendment based on an extension of the deadline for commencement of <br />eminent domain for six years and has certified that the Fifth Amendment conforms to the <br />General Plan; and <br /> <br /> -1- <br />AK/DES: 6/19/01 <br /> <br /> <br />
