<br />27 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE REDWOOD CITY <br />PARK AND RECR.dlTION COMMISSION OF NOVEMBER 4, 1953 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairma~, Irving Gold at <br />7:45 P. M. . . <br /> <br />Present: Commissioners Gold, Elouise Campbell, 'C,atherine Brenna, <br />Ralph Case, William Hanley and Vincent Rambo. <br /> <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Chairman H. S. Stout <br /> <br />The minutes of the Octob~r 7th meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />Commissioner William Hanrey reported on the Taft School Play- <br />ground Committee as to the location of the playground equipment. Re- <br />creation Director Alfred Morton felt that there was not any need to <br />duplicate additional playground equipment in another sectton of the <br />Taft School playground area for Tiny Tots, but that additional equip- <br />ment could be added adjacent to the present playground. Commissioner <br />Hanley stated that it was the desires of the Taft group that this c <br />other area be set up as they requested. Chairman Gold appointed a <br />committee of Commissioners Hanley Md Vincent Rambo and Recreatiol1 <br />Director Alfred Morton to meet with the Friendly Acres group and re-, <br />port ba'ck'at the next !Tl.eeting with a final report en this project. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gold reported progress on the Recreation Cammittee. <br /> <br />Co~missioner William Hanley felt he was not satisfied with the <br />present \vording of the Joint Ci ty and Elementary Sc}lool Agreement. <br />Commissioner Irving Gold expla.ined the agreement to Commissioner <br />Hanley showing him that the present agreement is satisfactory and <br />that if any major projects are planned then a letter should be <br />formulated stating the project and that without doubt~ it would be <br />signed by both parties in the joint agreement. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gold reported that the new City Map should not <br />doubt be ready for the next Commission Meeting. <br /> <br />l~SC by Comm,issioners "rvincent Rambo and Ralph Case that the <br />Redwood City Exchange Club be granted the use of the Yacht Club <br />Building on November l~th providing it meets with the appro~al of the <br />Sequoia Yacht Club. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Gold reported on the Union Cemetery investigation <br />he made. He stated that it will be rather difficult at this time to <br />make any plans to convert the area over to a park. He said that back <br />in 1860 a corporetion was formed and many of the heirs are now living <br />end it would be quite a problem to ~ave the cemetery dedicated as a <br />park. He felt that the Comrn.ission needed legal advici. <br /> <br />MSC by CoITmissioners William Hanley and Cntherine Brennan that a <br />letter be sent to the City Council requesting an apporpriation of <br />sufficient funds to obtain legal advice on this project. <br /> <br />
