<br />; <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />PUBLIC MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY, MARCH 26, 1991 ' <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Vice Chairperson Slusser, <br />Commissioners Davis, Howard, <br />Mortensen and Swope <br /> <br />Chairperson Nordness (excused) <br />and Commissioner Castell; (excused) <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Counc;lmembers Judy Buchan and <br />Jack Murray and Mike Gibson of <br />Redwood Shores Properties Inc. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Director <br />Peter Griffiths, Park & Recreation <br />Superintendent Sally Hartman and <br />Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: <br /> <br />The public meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order at 7:35 p.m. by Vice Chairperson Robert Slusser in Room 3 of the <br />Hotel Sofitel, 223 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood City, California. <br />Vice Chairperson Slusser introduced the members of the Commission and <br />Councilmembers Buchan and Murray to the audience. He thanked Carol Ford <br />and the Redwood Shores Homeowners Association for their cooperation and <br />assistance in setting up this evening's meeting. <br /> <br />ROll CAll <br /> <br />Roll was called and a quorum was met. <br /> <br />Vice Chairperson Slusser explained that the reason for this meeting was <br />to update Redwood Shores residents on park development plans for the <br />area. This will be the first of several public meetings held in Redwood <br />City to assist the Parks and Recreation Commission in developing citywide <br />long range plans for its facilities. He explained the format of the <br />meeting and the topics to be discussed. He announced that immediately <br />following this meeting, a meeting of the Redwood Shores Homeowners <br />Association would be held and everyone was invited to attend. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - Development of Redwood Shores Parks <br /> <br />Director Griffiths gave an overview of the development of Redwood Shores <br />parks with special emphasis on three separate park projects currently <br />being planned. These projects are: Marlin Park, Shannon Way Playground, <br />and Sandpiper Park. He explained that Marlin Park, which is located at <br />Cringle & Neptune Streets, consists of 6.5 acres which will include a <br />full basketball court area, a softball field, two tennis courts, <br />landscaping for maintenance and operation, and a parcourse.
