Rust of the Redwood Shores <br />Tennis Club, Nita Spangler, Mike <br />Gibbons and Senior Affairs <br />Commss;oner Vince Truscelli <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Director Peter Griffiths and <br />Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order at 7:30pm by Chairperson Bob Slusser in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City. California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope requested that two changes be made to the January <br />minutes. Under Item 1, first paragraph, it should read URequest for <br />Qualifications (RFQ)II not IIRequest for Proposal (RFP)II. Also under Item 1, <br />paragraph 3, the minutes should read, IIIn conjunction with the work Peak & <br />Associates will complete, citizen volunteers will be utilized to record <br />archeological information. A Cultural Resource Plan will be developed by <br />Peak & Associates which will be used to apply for grants and other sources <br />of f~ndingll. The minutes were approved as corrected. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />There was no correspondence. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - Redwood Shores Tennis Club - Marsha Fairburn <br /> <br />Marsha Fairburn of the Redwood Shores Tennis Club (RSTC) explained that she <br />had sent a letter on January 20 to Director Griffiths requesting exclusive <br />use of the tennis courts at Dolphin and Shorebird Parks. She explained that <br />RSTC has 6-7 tournaments and many social activities each year and the club <br />averages 100 members. RSTC advertises for members in local papers and posts <br />notices at Redwood Shores tennis courts. She said that the club is a <br />non-profit organization which is open to all Redwood City residents. <br />Annual membership costs are $35.00 per family and $25.00 for a single person. <br />RSTC charges its members $5.00 for each tournament they participate in and <br />they seek donations of prizes from local businesses. <br /> <br />
