APPROVAL OF MINUTES As the minutes of the April meeting were not received, the approval of those minutes was deferred until next meeting. CORRESPONDENCE -A letter was received from Carolyn McLaurin of the Pride and Beautification Committee asking the Commission if any of its members would participate on the selection committee for the Mayor's Beautification A wards Program chaired by Councilwoman Diane Howard. Commissioner Vie Morton volunteered to be on the committee. ITEM 1- YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL PRESENTATION Director Griffiths stated the City Council has put $7,500.00 back into our department's budget to provide the manpower and supplies to create a youth advisory council. Supervisor Knight reminded the Commissioners that three years ago, a youth/teen forum was held and a survey was completed by the participants. Many good ideas and suggestions came out of this forum and survey, including a request to form a youth advisory council. She noted that the City Council is very youth-oriented and wants youth input on different matters at a higher level, such as a youth advisory council. She also mentioned that she brought this proposal to the City's Child Care Advisory Committee and they have given it their support.
