<br />.J <br /> <br />.it ì <br />.l; ":w <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 27, 1995 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Swope I Commissioners <br />Davis, Morton, Slusser, and Truscelli <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Hughes and Nordness <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: None <br /> <br />STAFF PRE S E NT: Director Peter Griffiths, S u perviso r Julie Hannon, <br />Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Susan Swope at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The August minutes were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />-Chairperson Swope received a letter from Mark Fontana of V. Fontana & <br />Company thanking her for her letter to his father, Mr. Ello Fontana. <br /> <br />ITEM 1- RED MORTON CENTER UPDATE <br /> <br />aFund Raising Efforts <br />Chairperson Swope reported they sold 22 tiles at the Climate Best Fest. The <br />next event where the tiles will be sold is at tlDia de la Raza" at Hoover Park <br />on Sunday, October 8 from lO:OOam-5:00pm. She and Commissioners Davis <br />and Morton will sell tiles at this event. Tiles will also be sold at the <br />Halloween "Spooktacular" sponsored by the department on Tuesday! October <br />31 at the CAB from 4:00-6:00pm. Commissioner Morton volunteered to sell <br />tiles at the event. <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope said Commissioner Hughes has sold 94 tickets so far for <br />the Halloween Dinner/ Auction on Thursday, October 26. <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope announced that Koret Company and the Peninsula <br />Community Foundation declined our grant requests but that Bay Area Bank <br />has committed to make a large contribution to the Red Morton fundraising <br />effort and also has purchased a table of 10 tickets to the Halloween <br />Dinner / Auction. Over $22,000.00 has been raised so far in our fundraising <br /> <br />
