<br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23, 1997 <br /> <br />CO MMISS lONERS PRE SENT: Chairperson T rusee Hi, C ommis si oner s <br />Davis, Hughes, Morton, Nordness, and <br />51 usser <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Swope <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: See Sign-In List for listing <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Pauline Truscelli at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the <br />Co mm unity A cti vi ties B un ding, 1400 Roosevelt A v en ue , Re d wood City , <br />California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the March meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed the letter sent by Chairperson Truscelli to <br />Mr. Terry Anderlini. Commissioner Davis asked when the feasibility study <br />on Marine Park would be completed and Superintendent Hover indicated it <br />should be completed by the June meeting. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Terry Anderlini asked for a full discussion of dogs in the parks at the June <br />meeting and he asked staff to expand their feasibility study to include the site <br />east of Indian Creek and any other sites that do not conflict with residential <br />properties. Mr. Anderlini said he also wants the Commission to consider the <br />elimination of the City's ordinance prohibiting dogs in the parks. He <br />suggested that dogs be allowed on leash in some City parks and the <br />Commission would decide on which parks those would be. Mr. Ander lini <br />said people are currently violating the City's ordinance and he urged the <br />Commission to re-examine the ordinance issue. He invited the <br />Commissioners to attend a Shores Dogs meeting on May 3 and noted he now <br />has 325 signatures on the petition. <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis suggested having a study session at the June meeting <br />prior to holding any public hearings on this subject.
