<br />- , --. <br />! . <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JULY 28, 1999 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Morton, Commissioners Davis, <br />Joseph, La Berge, and Swope <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Slusser and Truscelli <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Susie Peyton <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Administrative Assistant Denise <br />Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order <br />by Chairperson Vic Morton at 7:30pm in Room 5 at the Community Activities <br />Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The following changes were requested to be made to the June minutes: <br />-Item 5, Skate Park Design Committee Report; the second sentence should read <br />that some of the neighbors were against the project and some neighbors were <br />supportive of the project. <br />-Item 3, Report from Sub-Committees; Commissioner LaBerge should be noted <br />as the chair of the alcohol in the parks sub-committee. <br />-Item 5, 4th of July Parade Entry; delete the third sentence entirely. <br /> <br />M/S Davis/LaBerge: To approve the June minutes as corrected. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />The Commissioners received the following pieces of correspondence in their <br />pa ck ets : <br />1.) Letter from Terry Anderlini to Superintendent Hover requesting a meeting <br />with him to discuss the year 2000 budget for the Shore Dogs Park; Mr. <br />Anderlini felt that the park should have an annual budget for grass repair and <br />replacement. Superintendent Hover explained that there are soil problems at <br />Shore Dogs Park and staff is looking at ways to improve the turf there. He <br />noted that staff does not plan to budget for grass repair and replacement at <br />the park. The Commissioners discussed the situation and said it was their <br />understanding that grass repair and replacement was never part of the <br />agreement in maintaining the park. Superintendent Hover mentioned that <br />Shore Dogs Park is getting tremendous wear and tear due to excessive use <br />and it was suggested to close the park several times each year to give the <br />turf time to rest and repair itself. <br /> <br />2.) Letter to Park Manager Mike Gibbons thanking him for his help and <br />assistance on the Commission's 4th of July float for the Commission. <br /> <br />
