<br /> <br />" <br />, <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2003 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Walsh, Commissioners Joseph, <br />Morton, Swope, and Truscelli <br /> <br />C.OMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Davis and Yapp <br /> <br />TEEN ADVISORY BOARD PRESENT: None <br /> <br />YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD PRESENT: None <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Matt Walsh at 7:30pm in Room 1 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The following corrections were made to the August minutes: <br />1.) Guests Present, add Betty Travers <br />2.) Item 2, Commissioners Joseph and Swope volunteered to participate <br />on Lagoon committee, not Commissioners Joseph and Yapp. <br />3.) Item 5, Commissioners wanted to include Redwood Shores lagoons <br />on their park tour . <br />The August minutes were approved as corrected. <br /> <br />CORRESPO N DENCE <br /> <br />-There was no correspondence. <br /> <br />\,( <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - STRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE AND TIMELINE <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover reported that staff has engaged MIG, Inc. to assist in <br />the preparation and completion of the department's strategic plan. The cost <br />of the proposal from MIG is approximately $38,000.00 and staff is looking at <br />ways to reduce the cost of the proposal. Staff has had one meeting with <br />Daniel Iacofano of MIG which went very well. Superintendent Hover <br />explained that staff does not have the time available to complete this project <br />by the end of the year and that using MIG will enable us to meet this <br />deadline. <br /> <br />Commissioner Joseph felt that $38,000.00 was a lot of money for this <br />service. Commissioner Swope stated that considerable work has already <br /> <br />
