<br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23, 2005 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT:' Chairperson Yapp, Vice Chairperson Morton, <br />Com missioners Joseph, Slusser, Swope, and White. (arrived 7: 40 p. m.) <br /> <br />COM MISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Truscelli <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: None <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendents Gary Hover' <br />and Chris Beth <br /> <br />Chairperson Bob Yapp called the regular meeting of the Park and Recreation <br />Commission to order at 7:34pm in Room 5 of the Community Activities <br />Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Director Centeno noted that the Minutes of the November Study Session <br />would be presented in April 2005. <br /> <br />A correction was made to February 2005 minutes. Under Item 3, motion <br />should read: "That the Commission recommend approval of the MOU with <br />San Mateo Historical Association by Council." The minutes of February 23 <br />were then approved as corrected. <br /> <br />CORRESPON DE N CE <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - COMMENTS REGARDING YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD AND <br />TEEN ADVISORY BOARD PARTICIPATION WITH COMMISSION <br /> <br />Superintendent Beth reported that he had talked with Mark Yasuda and Jodi <br />Fernandez, the staff responsible for the Teen and Youth Advisory Boards <br />, respectively, about how to connect the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />with their groups. This discussion happened early enough for the Teen group <br />to discuss it at their meeting but too late for the Youth Advisory Group. The <br />teens felt that having discussion topics via the Teen Web Page would be the <br />best. Superintendent Beth commented that the website was ready to launch <br />and that Ms. Fernandez would be getting feedback from the youth board at <br />their next meeting. <br /> <br />In this regard, Superintendent Beth spoke to an invitation he had received <br />from Sequoia Hospital that will be holding a Youth Development Initiative <br />Fish Bowl Forum on April 7, 2005 from 4-8 p.m., as yet another means of <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />
