<br />.. <br /> <br />. <br />, <br />\. <br />~. <br />,,- <br />, <br /> <br />I"~ <br />[ <br />I <br />I' <br />\ <br /> <br />f <br />, <br />( <br /> <br />! <br />'. <br /> <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22, 2005 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Yapp, Vice Chairperson Morton, <br />Commissioners Joseph, Slusser, Swope, Truscelli, and White <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: None <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendent Gary Hover <br />and Chris Beth (arrived 8:30 p.m.) and Recreation Program Manager Jordana <br />Freeman. <br /> <br />Chairperson Bob Yapp called the regular meeting of the Park and Recreation <br />Commission to order at 7: 35pm in Room 2 of the Community Activities <br />Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Minutes of the Commission's May 25, 2005 meeting were approved as <br />mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPON D ENCE <br /> <br />Chairperson Yapp noted the letter received from Mrs. Travers regarding <br />suggestions for park rules and indicated it would be discussed under Agenda <br />Item 2. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - PRESENTATION FROM SPECIAL INTEREST CLASSES AND <br />MARKETING MANAGER - JORDANA FREEMAN <br /> <br />Ms. Freeman shared handouts with the Commission including a copy of the <br />Summer 2005 brochure, Summer Concert card and the slides for her Power <br />Point Presentation. She highlighted the fact that class revenue is up by 54% <br />in five years; that 66% of our first day registration is done on-line, 32% <br />overall. She responded to questions regarding our 70 % contractor - 30% <br />City class agreements; how we outreach to lower income communities; our <br />scholarship program; how various City's share instructors; our new family <br />camp arrangement; how do we find out the type of classes people would <br />want and how our class registration system operates. <br />
