PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2007 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Slusser, Vice Chairperson White, <br /> Commissioners Joseph-Hover, Sargent, Swope, Truscelli and Wright <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: None <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendent Gary Hover, <br /> Administrative Assistant Denise Monroe <br /> Chairperson Bob Slusser called the regular meeting of the Park and <br /> Recreation Commission to order at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the June meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> A newsletter was received from the California Association of Parks and <br /> Recreation Commissioners and Board Members. <br /> ITEM 1 — APPROVAL OF INITIAL PARK NEEDS ASSESSMENT STUDY <br /> Superintendent Hover reported the preliminary needs assessment study will <br /> be part of the August 27 City Council packet when the In-Lieu Park Fee will <br /> be presented. He reviewed several changes to the document with the <br /> Commissioners and stated that staff and the consultant will continue working <br /> on the preliminary document and will bring the final document back to <br /> Council for approval. The Commissioners provided feedback on the <br /> document including wanting more specifics and details; a map identifying <br /> where areas are deficient in parkland, improved language, and focusing on <br /> the conclusion. <br /> M/S Truscelli/Wright: To approve the preliminary needs assessment <br /> for recommendation to the City Council with the following changes: <br /> 1.) Under Conclusion, bullet point #2 needs to include specifics <br /> about neighborhood deficiencies according to the 3/1,000 <br /> parkland standard; <br /> 2.) Under Conclusion, bullet point #4 should include expansion; <br /> 3.) On Page 12, the narrative needs to be corrected; <br /> 4.) On Page 13, delete the reference to bounce house; <br />
