Vice Mayor Foust left the dais. <br /> Council Member Bain attended the Public Safety Night at the Elks Lodge that <br /> recognized Police Officers and Firefighters. He mentioned the retirement of Lt. Jim <br /> Stoney. He also attended the Emergency Services Council event and the main issue <br /> discussed was the drought. He mentioned how some places were closing, because <br /> creeks have dried up and there is severe reduction of water. Council Member Bain <br /> noted the Burlingame Neighborhood Network that is similar to active network down here <br /> and certain alumni. They talked about how they can standardize the nefinrorks <br /> throughout the County and each City. He also attended the Pre-hospital Emergency <br /> Services Joint Powers Authority Board meeting. They adopted their budget for 2014- <br /> 2015 and part of that was the communication systems upgrade. <br /> This Council Member said that he read some comments regarding Saltworks and how <br /> the developer is working with federal agencies and is planning to come back to the City <br /> with an application. He doesn't know how long it will take, but he doesn't want to <br /> entertain any proposal without determining what the public wants. He feels that this <br /> should be led by the City. He believes that it is important to get ahead of this situation <br /> and he would like to suggest that the Council appoint a subcommittee to address the <br /> right process on they will evaluate the proposal. He would also suggest to the developer <br /> to not do any community outreach so that the community does not get confused. <br /> Council Member Foust joined the Council at the dais. <br /> Council Member Pierce said she would like to schedule a discussion about what <br /> Council Member Bain just said. <br /> Vice Mayor Foust said that she serves on the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority <br /> Board representing the South County seat of Redwood City and it was its goal to place <br /> on the November 2014 ballot a nine county parcel tax. She noted that initially the cost <br /> was $1.9 million and that there would be a cost to place it on the ballot. From the <br /> polling results, it showed that 2/3 votes were needed, so the Board decided to postpone <br /> to November 2016. <br /> Mayor Gee said he attended the Habitat for Humanity key exchange event. He said <br /> three new home owners were given keys. One of the homes was in Redwood City and <br /> he was touched by this event. He congratulated the organization on being a great <br /> community partner. <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> C.
