7.1.A. - Page 2
The Redwood City School District, City of Redwood City and San Mateo County have
jointly supported the development and implementation of the Community Schools
program for many years. Redwood City Community Schools serve nearly 3,800
students, many qualifying for free or reduced school lunches, and the majority with
English as their second language. Research shows that Community Schools are
successful in helping these students address barriers to learning and achieve academic
success. Financial support for community schools helps ensure early and sustainable
success for students and families in this community and is a prudent investment in the
future.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may elect not to authorize the City Manager to execute the amendment.
FISCAL IMPACT
The City's contribution of $100,000 has been approved in FY 2014/2015 budget.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under CEQA as defined in CEQA Guidelines, section
15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or foreseeable physical
change in the environment.
401)
DEANNA V.
