Agreeing on
this format , the Commission continued with its review and at the conclusion ,
Mr . Weeks indicated that the changes would be drafted and forwarded to each
Commissioner .
Chairman Pound suggested that the name of the Commission Relations Committee
be changed to Community and Commission Relations and that citizen partici -
pation affairs be handled by that Committee .
Chairperson Pound commented on the value of soliciting citizen input and
their service on the various Committees . She expressed concern over the
lack of interest shown by the community for local government and the increas -
ing difficulty in finding interested and qualified persons to serve as Com-
missioners . She said that getting people to serve on Committees is not only
beneficial from a productivity standpoint , but provides for the development
of a pool of experienced persons from which future Commissioners may be soli -
cited .
Commissioner Hayes inquired as to the status of the Bicycle Plan . Mr . Weeks
indicated that the Public Works Department had prepared the plan and are now
in the process of collecting further data and public input prior to finaliz -
ing and presenting to the City Council for adoption .
- 3 -
