RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> FEBRUARY 1977 <br /> CENTER OPERATIONS AND SPECIAL INTEREST CLASSES <br /> Wedding receptions and parties were scheduled every weekend in February <br /> at the Community Activities Building and a full schedule for upcoming <br /> weekends through June is already planned . Winter special interest classes <br /> were also well received . <br /> The Senior Information and Referral Office is extremely busy operating <br /> under a new schedule of office hours from 9 : 00 a . m . to 5 : 00 p . m . Monday <br /> through Friday . Three staff members are attending a Development Seminar <br /> for Older Americans sponsored by College of San Mateo at Central Recrea- <br /> tion Center in San Mateo . A person has been hired under Title IX funds <br /> to resume coordinating the Neighbor on the Block Program under the direc - <br /> tion of Bernie Nielson . This employee will be working four hours per day <br /> and will be providing an outreach program to locate housebound elderly <br /> persons and to pair them up with volunteer neighbors who will provide <br /> needed assistance and companionship on a regular basis . <br /> Red Morton Center <br /> Noon Programs - McKinley <br /> Most of the activities this month centered around new games . The teens <br /> seemed to enjoy the tug -of-war and parachute games the most . These acti - <br /> vities offer something for all and can be done with co-ed groups . <br /> Kennedy <br /> Disco Dance was offered in February and the class was filled with both <br /> boys and girls . We will continue to offer dance classes plus add more <br /> activities in March . Programs will be co-ed . <br /> Hoover <br /> The recreation leaders have been at Hoover only two weeks because of <br /> teacher conferences . The teens really enjoy the recreation room which <br /> consists of carroms , leather work and crafts . The Student Council has <br /> met two times in February and had a Valentines Dance that was very <br /> successful . <br /> - 18 - <br />
