Commissioner <br /> Weintraub indicated that she would like this item on the agenda for <br /> discussion . Discussion ensued . Mr . Weeks indicated that he would <br /> set up a meeting with Chairperson Pound and Chairperson Poncia to <br /> arrive at an agenda for the meeting . <br /> REPORTS <br /> Report Item 1 . Program Committee Report <br /> Mr . Paulson briefed the Commission on the status of the proposed pilot <br /> recreation program at a junior high school . He indicated that he had <br /> met with the principals from Hoover and McKinley and two area super- <br /> visors and that they had discussed the concept of the program . He <br /> indicated the funding options for the program were : 1 ) the General <br /> Fund , 2 ) the School District funding the program , 3 ) CETA funding <br /> ( Creative Employment Training Act ) for at least the Director ' s salary <br /> and 4 ) Revenue sharing . <br /> Commissioner Schlesinger asked if the school district was going to <br /> be willing to participate in the program . Mr . Paulson indicated <br /> that the school district was going to cooperate with the Recreation <br /> Department with in - kind type services only . Mr . Paulson gave the <br /> Commission a brief outline of the program . Discussion ensued with <br /> regard to the school district ' s feelings , the pros and cons of both <br /> school sites and Commission involvement . <br /> MOTION : Commissioner Schlesinger moved to accept the <br /> Program Committee Report , seconded by Com- <br /> missioner Anderson . The motion carried <br /> unanimously by voice vote . <br /> Report Item 2 . Monthly Reports <br /> Chairperson Pound inquired if the career program at Sequoia High School <br /> for Latino students was a new program . Mr . Weeks indicated that it was <br /> implemented last year . He further indicated that the program was well <br /> received throughout the City and is a federally funded program for the <br /> school , in which the City contributes the supervisory time . Chairperson <br /> Pound indicated that she would like to see this branch out into the other <br /> schools . <br /> -4 - <br />
