PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT
DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
MARCH 1977
Redwood Shores Park Development
The construction work at Dolphin Parks I , II , and III and for the first
phase of Marlin II continues , however at a somewhat slower pace . The
local rains which fell during the month of March delayed the work to
some degree . The installation of the sprinkler system is continuing
and should be completed by the middle of April . Final grading will then
be accomplished and access walks will be installed . The play apparatus
area in Dolphin II has been installed ; however , the play equipment has
not as yet been put into place . Every effort is being made to urge the
contractor to move ahead as rapidly as possible to complete this con -
struction work .
Mezes Park
The contractor is awaiting delivery of materials for the new picnic tables
and benches . Some work has been accomplished on the turf areas and some
of the landscaping in order to produce an acceptable job . Recent rains
have delayed the work ; however , it is felt that this phase of the park
construction can be completed prior to the end of April .
Canyon Park
The construction drawings for the first phase development of Canyon Park
are now complete . A meeting has been scheduled for the first week of
April with the consultant for a final review of the plans and to ini -
tiate the plan checking process for the work .
The worsening drought situation together with mandated water rationing
will result in further evaluation of this project by the Design & Devel -
opment Committee together with the Parks & Recreation Commission as to
the feasibility of initiating this project at this time . Recommenda -
tions regarding the project will be confirmed as soon as possible .
- 6-
