Relighting of Bechet- Griffin Fields $ 101 , 000 Light the two new tennis courts 4 , 000 Construct picnic areas ( group & family ) 23 , 230 Play apparatus area between Valota and new restroom 18 , 975 Parking - Recreation Center ( does not include irrigation , landscaping , lighting or fencing ) 55 , 963 TOTAL $203 , 168 In addition to the Red Morton Park Project , it was pointed out that the State Representatives have indicated they will accept applications for the 1976 Park Bond Funds based upon our estimates prior to the County ' s determination of the County Plan of Expenditure . This application must also be in prior to September 15 , 1977 , in order to qualify for fiscal year 1978-79 funds . This application is also being prepared for the Canyon Park project with the expectation of securing the State ` s # com- mitment for the Grant during fiscal year 1978-79 , even though the drought may prohibit proceeding with the project . It was further pointed out that the applications for the SB174 money are also in process . There are no established deadlines for this Grant and , therefore , priority is being shown to those applications which require a filing by the deadline of September 15 , 1977 . The Committee also received an update of the status of the improvements for the Community Park Pool . The feasibility study was reviewed with the Committee together with an explanation regarding the gift of $100 , 000 toward this project from the estate of Sidney D . Herkner . A scope of work will be prepared for this project which will result in negotiations with the consultants to proceed with the design and working drawings for the project . It was pointed out to the Committee that as these projects get underway , several future meetings will be necessary to review the progress of plans and specificiations for the completion of the work . -7 -
