RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> NOVEMBER 1977 <br /> COMMUNITY LEISURE SERVICES <br /> After- School Sports ( Grades 4-6 ) <br /> Highlights of the November program included playoffs in both boys flag <br /> football and girls volleyball to determine City Champions . <br /> In the girls volleyball division the Hoover " Pride " decisioned the <br /> McKinley " Meanies " 21 -7 , 21 - 10 for the Elementary Girls Championship . <br /> Boys flag football finals : 6th grade Fair Oaks Bears 6 , McKinley Trojans <br /> 0 ; 4th - 5th grade Taft Buccaneers 10 , Roy Cloud Seahawks 6 . <br /> Over 440 elementary boys and girls participated in volleyball and flag <br /> football which represents an increase of 60 participants compared to <br /> last year . <br /> After- School Sports ( Grades 7-8 ) <br /> A highly successful flag football and volleyball season has also just <br /> concluded on the junior high level with city championship game results <br /> as follows : <br /> Girls Volleyball - Kennedy Boppers over the Kennedy Nutty Netters <br /> Boys Flag Football - McKinley Patriots 123 Kennedy 49ers 0 . <br /> Approximately 227 boys and girls participated in the junior high leagues <br /> or about the same as last year . <br /> Coming Events : <br /> During the latter part of November and early part of December the Leisure <br /> Services section is concerned with taking sign -ups for girls and boys <br /> basketball and the hiring and training of both basketball coaches and <br /> officials . We are also looking forward to having Mt . Carmel join our <br /> sports program for boys elementary basketball . This will be the first <br /> time the parochial schools have been actively involved in the recreation <br /> leagues . The first league games start December 7 at the National Guard <br /> Armory . <br /> -8- <br />
