development of the Right-of-Way will come from City funds . Thirdly , to
utilize SB174 funds available in fiscal year 1978-79 which do not have
the same constraint as the 1974 and 1976 State Park Bond Fund . SB174
money for 1978- 79 will be available for application , and Mr . Weeks felt
there would be enough money available from this source to cover the cost
of the Right-of-Way development . This matter will be resolved as the
project progresses .
Mr . Weeks indicated that all three of the SB174 grant applications for
Spinas , Fleishman , and Palm Parks have been approved by the Council and
will be forwarded to the State Department of Parks & Recreation by the
deadline of October 1 , 1977 .
REPORTS
REPORT ITEM 1 . Operational Policy Committee
This report item was discussed and approved in Agenda Item 1 .
REPORT ITEM 2 . Monthly Reports
Mr . Weeks indicated to the Commission that the Department has met with the
contractor on the restrooms at Mezes Park and Red Morton Park , There is
a tentative agreement as to what would be done and that the bonding company
would pay for the fixing of the restroom floors so they will drain properly .
The subcontractors are now working at Redwood Shores . The lighting of the
tennis courts will be delayed until January of 1978 , but the courts will
be completed for daylight use prior to that time .
Commissioner Weintraub commented on the Pinewood Derby and Commissioner
Pound ' s comments ( page 5 - August 10 , 1977 minutes ) . She felt that rather
than the track being moved to Redwood Shores next year , it might be better
to have the children bused into Stafford Park for the event . Mr . Weeks
indicated that the track was portable and could be easily moved and that
there might be the possibility of holding preliminary races there and the
winners of those races could be transported to Stafford for the finals .
Mr . Weeks indicated that the Department would study this further and
report to the Commission prior to next year ' s event .
Commissioner Anderson commented on the successful Boys Youth Softball Pro-
gram . He was very pleased with the program . Mr . Anderson ' s son was intro-
duced to the Commission and he thanked the Commission and the Department
for having this program .
MOTION : Commissioner Hayes moved to accept the Monthly
Reports , seconded by Commissioner Knecht . The
motion carried unanimously by voice vote .
-3-
