(Attachment 2) Council Member Foust encouraged Abbott to look at childcare facilities sooner than Phase III, if at all possible. Council Member Hartnett stated that the zoning text amendment presents a broader public policy interest than this particular project. The amendment adopts an incentive for public infrastructure to be sponsored by project developers and it is a good model for the next corporate citizen. Agreement with California State Library for $10. 1 million grant for construction of Redwood Shores Branch Library Vice Mayor Pierce explained the process to this point and asked that the Library Foundation members, Redwood Shores Community Association, Library Board and Friends of the Library stand. Library Director Genesy stated he is available to answer any questions about the application or timeline of this opportunity. He further explained that the Library Foundation has committed to raising $800,000.00 to purchase the opening day collection at the library. Public Comment: Kathleen Douglas, President of the Library Board, speaking on behalf of the Board of Trustees, thanked the Council for the support and asked approval of the proposal. She stated that it is a very important part of the extension of programs and services and that Redwood Shores, at this point in time, is an underserved part of our city in regards to library services. Rory Faber, Secretary of the Redwood Shores Community Association, thanked and congratulated the Council.
