He further stated that the Association wrote a motion that was passed <br /> unanimously to make a commitment to help raise the extra funds needed to fund <br /> the opening collection and thereafter the re~ources for the library. <br /> Sandy Cooperman, President ¿f the Library roundation, stated that they will be <br /> raising the funds for the opening collection. She stated that the Foundation has <br /> formed a partnership with the Redwood Shores Community Association and they <br /> are working together to raise the funds. She stated the delight in this opportunity <br /> and urged the Council to approve. <br /> Lynn Kathleen Adams, speaking as a resident and private citizen of Redwood <br /> Shores since 1993, applauded the efforts of the City Council and all work that the <br /> Library Foundation will be doing to bring a branch library to Redwood Shores. She <br /> stated that it will be an asset to the community to be able to read and research, <br /> availing itself to the many resources from preschoolers to senior citizens. She <br /> urged approval of the agreement. <br /> Council comments included that this State grant was made possible through the <br /> community process that was exhaustive and interesting and all should take credit. <br /> Thanks were given to the groups previously mentioned as well as Vice Mayor <br /> Pierce for her leadership, Magda Gonzalez and Library staff for their work. <br />'- Recommendation <br /> M/S Ruskin/Foust to approve and authorize execution of the agreement with the <br /> California State Library providing $10.1 million State Library Bond grant funding. <br /> The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote.
