�""'* � <br /> , <br /> �+' ��+'° <br /> PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT <br /> DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT . <br /> FEBRUARY 1978 <br /> � <br /> Red Plorton Park <br /> Initial meetings have been held with the landscape architectural firm <br /> of Singer & Hodges relative to the elements in the design for the Phase <br /> IV development of Red Morton Park. A review was made of existing facili- <br /> ties and the status of the overall development of the park. Design work <br /> is being initiated for the picnic facilities and the play areas and a <br /> meeting is scheduled March 3, for the initial review of the preliminary <br /> sketches. <br /> The State Department of Parks & Recreation has not acted upon our appli- <br /> cation for State funds for this project, however, the design of the <br /> elements for the park will continue pending the approval of the funding. <br /> Redwood Shores <br /> The final inspection of the irrigation installation has been completed <br /> and the installation was approved. Aside from a few areas that are <br /> ponding water and will require minor grading, the area is now ready <br /> to receive the landscaping and turfing installation if sufficient funds <br /> are available for completion of this work. <br /> A date has been set for the first week of March for a night inspection <br /> of the tennis court lighting. If approved, schedules will be finalized <br /> for applying the finished coating surface to the courts together with <br /> the striping and the placement of the nets. A final inspection will <br /> then be made for acceptance by the City prior to opening the courts <br /> for public use. <br /> Palm Park <br /> The plans and specifications for the Palm Park project are awaiting <br /> completion of the final plan check and assignment of the specific dates <br /> to call for bids for the construction. Every effort will be made to <br /> complete this project prior to the summer season. <br /> Community Park Pool <br /> The City Council , at their meeting of February 6, 1978, approved the <br /> contract with Design & Engineering Systems, in Redwood City, for the <br /> preparation of plans and specifications for the improvements to be <br /> completed at the Corr�nunity Park Pool . Initial meetings have been held <br /> with the consultant to discuss the scope of work and the time schedule <br /> for completing the project. Initial sketches have been prepared and <br /> reviewed. The preparation of preliminary plans will soon be underway. <br /> -4- <br />
