Weeks referred to the list of proposed Capital Improvement Projects <br /> for Fiscal Year 1978-79 that were included in the Corranissioners' packets. <br /> He reviewed the projects for the Commission highlightin� the following <br /> items: <br /> 1 . Spinas Park - Redpplication of furlds from SB174 is being pro- <br /> posed �o initi�te Phase I of �he rehabilitatian of the park. <br /> The project will in�lude site preparation, grading and topsoil , <br /> wa1kways, play area and apparatu�, an� benches. Capita1 Improve- <br /> ment furlds totaling $10,864 wi11 be proposed for this project. <br /> This amount represents only the matching fund requirement. <br /> 2. Fleishman Park - Reapplication. of funds from SB174 is heing <br /> proposed for the redevelopment of the park. Th� project wili <br /> inc]ude �ite preparation, grading and topsoil , walkways, p]ay <br /> area and apparatus, park furniture, and fencing. Capital <br /> Improvement funds tota7ing $10,315 wil� be proposed for thi$ <br /> �roject. This amount also represents only the matching fund <br /> requirement. <br /> 3. Gan,yon Park - Funds for �he first phase of development of Can- <br /> yon Park will be received in July or A�gust pf 197$. Ths State <br /> ' Department of P+arks & Recreation has ruled that Stat� �Funds can <br /> not be used on the Hetch-Hetchy Right-of-Way portion of the park <br /> un1ess the City has a 20 year lease. Since i� is nQt economi- <br /> � cally feasible to lease� the 1and, Capital Imprvvement funds will <br /> be neeessary to complete the proje�t. Therefor�, State funds <br /> wi1T be used only on City property within the park .and City <br /> funds will be needed to complete the Hetch-Hetchy portipr�, pf <br /> the park. �apital Improvement funds totaling $35,000 are being <br /> requested in order to complete the Hetch-Hetchy por�ion of <br /> Canyon Parl�. <br /> 4. Relighting of Hawes Field - The field lighting is inadequate. <br /> It is estimated that the field can be relighted in s,uch a <br /> manner so as to save a considerable amount of energy. It is <br /> proposed to use funds available from the 1978-79 Grant Program <br /> ' � SB174. Capi�al .Improvement funds totaling �$7,500 to meet match- <br /> ing fund requirements dre being requested. <br /> �. Red Marton Community Park - The project will include the con- <br /> . structian of a parking area where Myrtle Street d�adends into <br /> the park and will also provide for a small maintenance-refuge <br /> storage area for park operations. Capital Improvement funds <br /> being requested total $49,470. <br /> -3- <br />
