. a <br /> <,�+, � . <br /> �� � <br /> Discussion continued regarding the damage to the building at the pool , <br /> the cost of the vandalism that has occurred, and the efforts the Police <br /> Department has taken in stopping the problem. <br /> Various options were discussed for next summer in order to reduce the <br /> constant damage from vandalism. Mr. Weeks indicated one option for <br /> next year includes the possibility of utilizing CETA funds, if available, <br /> to hire a full-time guard at the pool . He indicated the guard could be <br /> hired jointly with the Police Department in order to assure a security- <br /> type person who has been trained. Radio communication would also be <br /> available for any emergency. <br /> It was suggested that the Redwood City Tribune be notified when vandalism <br /> occurs in order to keep the public aware of the problem. Discussion <br /> continued regarding other vandalism that occurred during the surrr�nner in <br /> other areas of the City. <br /> REPORT ITEM 1 . Monthly Reports <br /> Mr. Weeks indicated that work is underway at the Redwood Shores parks <br /> and the landscaping will be starting shortly. Comnissioner Castle <br /> inquired as to the quality of water in the waterways at the shores. <br /> Mr. Weeks indicated the water quality fluctuates depending upon the <br /> areas involved and the weather conditions. Generally speaking, the <br /> quality was acceptable most of the time. <br /> Mr. Weeks indicated that the Council , at their meeting of September 11 , <br /> 1978, approved the proposed increases in fe�s for building useage. <br /> MOTION: Commissioner Knecht moved, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Schlesinger, to accept the monthly reports as submitted. <br /> The motion passed unanimously by voice vote. <br /> Mr. Weeks indicated that the clerical work load at the Department Head- <br /> quarters will be relieved somewhat with the re-hiring of Pat Richter, <br /> part-time Typist Clerk II , who will be working 4 hours a day at the <br /> Veterans Memorial Building. <br /> ROUND TABLE <br /> Comnissioner Castle indicated he would like to talk �o the Tribune to <br /> find out the amount of vandalism that they will cover and how much they <br /> have done in the past. <br /> MOTION: There being no further business, Commissioner Weintraub <br /> moved, seconded by Commissioner Knecht, to adjourn the <br /> meeting.
