. ,
Since that time the laws were amended to broaden the scope of bingo playing;
however, problems still existed with respect to senior groups and others
using public facilities for bingo. On the advise of the Police Department
and the City Attorney, this matter was brought to the attention of all groups
utilizing recreation facilities. It was pointed out that the City Attorney's
office is currently studying the matter in order to clearify the situation.
Additionally, it was suggested the Cornission reconsider their previous action
in order to allow qualified groups to play bingo in the recreation buildings
provided they complied with all laws pretaining thereto.
At the conclusion of the discussion the following action was taken:
MOTION: Commissioner Castle moved, seconded by Commissioner
Weintraub that the staff should proceed to find ways
and means to allow qualified groups as specified in the
law to utilize the recreation facilities for bingo.
The motion passed by voice vote with four (4) ayes and
one (1 ) no.
ROUND TABLE
Commissioner Weintraub suggested that a letter be written to the City Council
stating the Commission's appreciation of the Christmas Dinner they held for
City Commissioners and Committees. Mr. Weeks indicated he would prepare
such a letter. It was the consensus of the Commission to have each Commissioner's
signature on the letter.
MOTION: There being no further business, Commissioner Hayes moved,
seconded by Commissioner Castle, to adjourn the meeting.
The motion passed unanimously by voice vote and the meeting
was adjourned at 9:25 p.m.
-4-
